On Saturday, July 4, exactly 250 years after the birth of the United States of America, we have to ask ourselves what America 250 means for us going forward. What actions must we take if we really want to see a national renewal?
Seeing so many patriots come together in Philadelphia and Virginia’s Mount Vernon to express their love for the U.S. and their excitement at this historic 250th anniversary has been inspiring for me to witness. But as I contemplated the partially stopped-up crack in the Liberty Bell, or the column of Revolutionary War-uniformed soldiers passing before “George Washington” in review, I pondered what it truly means to honor the past, preserve the legacy of our heroes, and carry it forward into the future.
It is too easy to think that merely attending events or visiting monuments or wearing certain clothing on national holidays is sufficient to honor the past. But if we truly admire the men who founded this country and all the men and women since who have contributed to realizing the ideal of the Founding Fathers, then we have to take up the torch and carry on their work. And that entails some amount of risk, which is what modern Americans are particularly afraid of undertaking. We the People can choose to make America great again. But we need to identify our problems before we can fix them.
Multiple cities on the East Coast of the United States have canceled events because of a heat wave. No heat wave ever stopped the patriots who fought in the Revolution, the Civil War, the War on Terror, or all the wars in between. Almost half of Americans, including nearly two-thirds of Gen Z, do not know what we are celebrating this Independence Day, according to a new survey. Our education system has failed; or rather, socialists and malcontents have taken over our education system and deliberately undermined patriotism. Parents also have not passed on patriotism to their children.
Democrats have complained endlessly about various America 250 events. Then again, they have been openly hating on America since they launched a Civil War. And yet most Republicans are still afraid to play hardball against the Democrats. Both sides of the political spectrum push unconstitutional policies and compromise on moral evils such as abortion and homosexuality. We have increasingly turned our backs on God, so of course our God-given rights are under attack.

Everywhere in America we see broken families, political violence, racial hatred, irreligiousness, judicial activism, fraud, and foreign interference. And yet there is hope — a religious revival, increasing citizen awareness of political corruption, a surge in military enlistment, and consumer rebellion against extreme woke marketing. This article is not a doomer piece, it’s just meant to encourage true patriots to recognize where we must turn our focus in order to win the culture war and restore our Constitution.
The American Revolution was a grassroots movement. It began and ended with ordinary citizens furious at injustice. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,” Thomas Jefferson wrote. And the Continental Congress signed under the sentence, “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
Would we be willing to sign such a pledge?
