Let me ask you a question. If it was "No Kings Day" on Saturday and I couldn't tell if the old people carrying (and wearing) signs and costumes were protesters or dressing up for the senior center Halloween party, did "No Kings Day" actually happen?
I believe I could have been the key witness to a breakout from the retirement home because your humble correspondent had no idea Saturday was the Neville Roy Singham People's Republic of China high holy day that he funds a couple of days a year. At least I think that it's a couple of days a year. Or every weekend. I don't know the man's calendar. I just know he Shanghai'd himself to his spiritual home in the PRC and left behind an army of angry old white people who hit the streets and raise their reedy voices to sing awful folk tunes with young, hip lyrics, and punch their fists into the air.
Or hold signs. Or have furry tendencies.
Anyway, in the cities I'm in frequently in all three West Coast, Messed Coast™ states, when there are a bunch of old people standing around barking about "No Kings," it must be a Saturday. Definitely not a Sunday.
No shade on the old folks, and I'm no spring chicken, heaven knows, but should people this old be allowed alone on the streets so close to moving vehicles?
I'm only partially kidding. I don't go in much for the "old" trope, either. It's lazy. I hated it when the Democrats attempted to conflate Joe Biden being non compos mentis for his entire presidency with being "old" so they could tee up the argument that Donald Trump is the same age so he must not be of sound mind either. And the media bought it. Of course, they did.
Back to No Kings Day, which I assume I'm required to capitalize since it's The Church of the Red Fist on the Neville Roy Singham People's Republic of China high holy day calendar. And there might be a fairness doctrine involved around here, and I've been writing a lot about normal-people religion recently so fair's fair. Besides, I enjoy learning about foreign cultures' religious rituals.
Like bowing to the green frog while calling the president a madman.
A person with a “Remove the Madman” sign next to a human sized green Portland frog. Furries. Weirdos. https://t.co/4Lh3AnyApv

Anyway, I was just walking on the sidewalk on my way to a store in a town on the West Coast, Messed Coast™ when I observed a lot of silver haired harridans on the corner and it looked like they were waiting for the bus from the home.
And even the old people are furries. https://t.co/vZ6gwgpcZD

The occasional horn honked at the oldsters, and the fists went up and reedy voices chorused.
I overheard one conversation between two old white men for a change, and the cantankerous older old guy told the younger old guy that Democrats have completely lost their mojo, or words to that effect. He told the younger old guy that things were just too complex these days in Democrat politics with the Green Party and others taking away power from his union boys.
"Union?" the younger old man said. "Yes," the older old man said back. "You certainly don't sound like it."
The next thing I heard was the older codger hocking up a loogie and spitting on the sidewalk, the apparent coda to their conversation.
Which brings me to my suggestion for these people. Now hear me out. If you're going to waste your time shaking your fists, yelling at people, and standing on street coroners, whoops, that was a slip — corners — take a tip from the youngsters.
Stop taking yourself too seriously. You're such a boor.
