We have a couple of cribs that I've just purchased recently, with first-class mattresses, that my kids never use at our house for their little ones. They use only "THE" crib that they all slept in when they were little monkeys. And now that their own littles are getting bigger, it won't be long before I'll need to find big-kid beds for them to sleep in while visiting their Mor Mor and Bee-Bah/Bompa.
So it's getting time for all of this equipment to go.
This isn't a Facebook Marketplace ad, mind you. I know where these items are going.
I'm taking them to a no kill baby shelter.
You read that right.
I've been thinking of this rebrand of pregnancy crisis centers, and others like it, for a while. The varying names of these abortion alternatives properly characterize the fraught nature of a teenage pregnancy, or appeal to a woman without means who wants to keep her baby. But, frankly, I think the "no kill baby shelter" label is the way to go.
No kill baby shelters isn't a moniker for everyone, but for those of us sick and tired of decades full of euphemisms used for killing babies—"healthcare for women" (not the baby) — I'm ready for truth in advertising. More clarity and transparency never hurt anyone. Unless they're an abortionist hoping to hide what they're doing behind opaque language and "medical waste" bins.
A friend of mine from church suggested I try a local pregnancy center to donate the cribs to because they support new moms with all the stuff it takes to care for these milk-drinking, round and gangly, sweet little bundled human burritos. These new moms need swaddling cloths, bottle sterilizers, little beds and big beds, front packs, diapers, diaper bags, onesies, and all the rest of the gear. The list of gear needed to be a mom puts mountain climbers, spelunkers, and golfers to shame.
The rebrand couldn't come at a better time, either.
This week, the Massachusetts governor signed a bill into law that allows "abortion" of a baby until birth. This, of course, is what abortion apologists claimed never happened in America. It didn't happen so much that they codified it into law.

And Gov. Maura Healey (Massachusetts), surrounded by women, looked so pleased with herself as she signed the Child Sacrifice Act of 2026. No, it wasn't really called that. They wouldn't dare tell the truth about it. They still pretend that abortion doesn't actually kill a baby.

This reminded me of those side-by-side photos of an ultrasound photo of a baby in utero next to their baby picture. They're the same person. They're a person.

They call it choice, but how far can a woman exercise choice? Must it always result in the death of a kid, or perhaps her choice goes as far as choosing to use birth control instead of having unprotected sex? I'm not a minister or a theologian. I'm the mother of three, grandmother of four. I've seen the stakes in real time. I've literally gotten the baby t-shirt.
But back to the rebrand.
Have you ever scrolled on your Nextdoor, Reddit, Facebook, and Instagram apps and looked at all the bravery and selflessness attributed to people who "rescue" dogs from "no kill" animal shelters?
Maybe we should treat babies better than dogs.
