We take you now to the latest imaginary meeting of the Western States Coalition, where individual freedoms are ritually sacrificed for power.
Cremains of the day
Deep in the forest, the current three leaders, Bob, Tina, and Gavin, sit, legs akimbo, on the stumps of old growth nursing logs facing their permitted and state-approved 4x4 campfire. The blaze warms their faces. Its light hypnotizes, and the three drink deeply from a shared, bespoke Chihuly hand-blown, hemlock-filled goblet. Above, a fungus-filled cloud created from the fire's heat hangs over the gathering as prayers are offered to SEIU intercessors.

Gavin's replacement theology
Politics is religion, taxes are tithes, and handing over swaths of other people's money to your personal causes is charitable giving.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom spent $1 billion of taxpayer money to replace taxpayers fleeing the state for more freedom. He replaced them with illegal aliens. It's not about voting so much as it's about flooding Democrat zones to arrogate more congressional power.
City Journal's Chris Rufo and Susan Crabtree found that Newsom spent $1 billion on organizations to bring in illegal aliens from all over the world.
[We traced] the money and can reveal that Governor Gavin Newsom has granted approximately $1 billion to an army of nonprofits that has encouraged unchecked numbers of migrants to enter the country, fought deportation orders in the courts, and led street protests against ICE. [emphasis added]
[...] One of the myriad groups given California taxpayer funding through NGOs and non-profits is a group whose sole mission is to get rid of sovereign borders.
[...] According to its own materials, Al Otro Lado is anti-borders and openly hostile to the American nation.
[...] Since the beginning of his term, he has granted more than $100 million to nonprofits that fight deportation orders—sometimes even for clients with criminal convictions.
At the center of the web of NGOs paid to destroy borders is CHIRLA, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights Los Angeles.

This organization ran an ICE tracker website and overlapped with those complicit in "direct actions" (riots).
California taxpayers were forced to pay tolls to the troll in Sacramento for their replacements.
And as Rufo and Crabtree concluded, "the 2 million illegal migrants in California are pawns—merely the instruments of an activist class that would like to see America burn."

As if things could look worse, Newsom has presided over $50 to $60 billion in fraudulent spending per year since he took office.

Washington's state GOP leader, State Rep. Jim Walsh, reports that boxes of un-voted ballots that went undelivered were found dumped behind a strip mall in Renton, a town south of Seattle. “This is proof Washington state elections are not secure.”

Washington is an exclusively mail-in ballot state. This is the same state that has more than 700 thousand people on the voter database without proof of Social Security information, even though the state says it checks. Heh.
Oh, and —
The Department of Homeland Security has been cut off from finding illegal voters on the Washington state voter databases and tracking down illegal aliens and bona fide bad guys.
Brandi Kruse interviewed the "First Assistant U.S. Attorney" (thanks, U.S., for failing to confirm U.S. Attorneys!) in Seattle, who told her that Homeland Security has been "cut off from the Washington state database that allows them to run license plates and drivers' licenses. It's a change that could get agents killed during high-risk stops."
Reminder
Californians have left arguably the country's most beautiful state with temperate weather for more financial freedom and to fulfill the dream of home ownership.
As Earth Day came and went this week, we were reminded of why California's prices are so high and why U-Hauls are one-way out of town.
According to a new survey, "movers end up in neighborhoods with monthly housing costs about $672 lower." [emphasis added]
They're also running away from California's built-in Democrat-regulated price increases of "11% more for groceries, 40% more for gas, and 61% more for utilities than the national average."
"We expected to see people moving to cheaper locations in other states, but our analysis showed the average costs dropping by nearly $400,000 – that's a key data point for families who want to become homeowners," Evan White, executive director of the California Policy Lab, told FOX Business.
"The likelihood of becoming a homeowner increased by nearly 50% for those who left California. That's a big difference," he added.
Put another way, that's how much financial freedom and independence have been sacrificed for Democrat regulations. No wonder they're running away.
My favorite Ronald Reagan quote is, "Don't be afraid to see what you see."

Portland's assisted suicide
Portland's latest attempt at assisted suicide from its Democratic Socialist city council majority is to defund the police... again.
This time, Mayor Keith Wilson proposed a $17 million reduction. The fire bureau will be cut by $3 million because who needs 'em, anyway?
Woke police chief, Baghdad Bob Day, says the Portland police will now look different.
I'm not happy about it. I don't like it. I've been through the five stages of grief over it about 48 times in the last week. I'm saddened by it. I'm disappointed that we're at this place as a city.
[S]ome of the things that we are reaping at this stage of the game years later [2016 defunding/2020 riots] is because our lack of investment years ago.

Gas bag
California's Gavin Newsom presided over multiple refinery closures due to Zee Pahty's global warming "crisis" and has replaced the refinery crisis with a new one: A gas shortage.
Due to regulatory changes pertaining to underground tank upgrades, 473-500 gas stations — roughly 5% of the total number of stations — have closed so far in California in 2026 because they can't afford to conform to the new regulations imposed by the commies.
The man who likes to brag about "running the fourth largest economy in the world" has put his state in an increasingly negative security posture and imports most of its fuel.
California is home to 42 military installations.
And Gavin Newsom is a national disgrace.
