Threads is Mark Zuckerberg’s fake X, created when Elon Musk made it clear that he was going to open the door at the social media site formerly known as Twitter to the freedom of speech a good bit more than it had ever been open before. Leftists are totalitarians at heart and cannot stand dissent, and so many of them fled X at that time, predicting the imminent demise of the “fascist” platform, and establishing their own versions of Twitter/X that silenced patriots and amplified leftist voices as energetically as pre-Musk Twitter ever did.
Among these, Threads and Bluesky are the most prominent, and so the other day I decided to get a glimpse into the leftist mindset, and signed up for Threads. And as the kids today say, Wow. Just wow.
There is all manner of craziness on Threads, including a heavy infestation of men who think they’re women. One of the most spectacularly insane preoccupations of the platform in general, however, is that the 2024 election was stolen, and Kamala Harris was actually elected president of the United States.
No, I am not making this up. When Harris was touting her big announcement that turned out to be the establishment of Headquarters, “the new Gen-Z led progressive content hub,” some Threads users were beside themselves with excitement that Harris was going to announce that she had actually won the 2024 election, and, apparently with a simple wave of her hand, rid the world once and for all of Orange Man Bad.
One Threads user wrote: “Just putting it out there... Today @kamalaharris announces that the ‘grave national security threat’ Gabbard has been holding back is irrefutable evidence that Elon Musk was involved in a conspiracy to rig the 2024 election. S**tler is illegitimate and now the country is going to peacefully transfer power to Kamala and Tim Walz. Musk, Miller and S**tler are carted off in handcuffs. A national holiday is proclaimed and no one has to work. I HOPE & WISH.”
This is not just the fantasy of one person. On a post about a Daily Beast report saying that “President Donald Trump said he will only accept the GOP losing control of Congress in this November’s midterms if he considers the elections to have been ‘honest,’” another Threads user asked: “Like the 2024 election that he stole from Kamala?”
This was the time to start backing toward the door, smiling reassuringly, but I plowed on, finding that another big preoccupation at Threads is Trump’s supposed incapacity. This one is pure projection after four years of Old Joe Biden, during which leftists were insisting against all evidence that the alleged president was sharp as a tack, but Threads users go at it with gusto. One wrote: “Tom Llamas NBC News has interviewed President Trump. Trump continues to defend his mental and physical health, but he has all the signs and symptoms of frontal temporal dementia. He is in denial!” Well, yeah, someone certainly is.
Another provided the prevailing view on Threads of President Donald Trump in a handy and succinct summary post: “Trump is a narcissist, a multiple felon, and a proven sex offender. When the full Epstein Files are released, and not politically redacted, it's likely they will show him to be a pedophile as well. You can't blame a sick old man for this, but he's also incontinent and suffering from dementia.”

The Epstein Files are a constant Threads preoccupation, with Threads users absolutely certain that they establish Trump as a monster of world-historical proportions, right up there with the Hitler they insist he is emulating, and that the only reason why he isn’t in prison right now is because he has bought off essentially most of the world, while his sycophants in the media cover for him. Yes, they really think that the establishment media covers for Trump.
In the final analysis, Threads world, as you may expect, is an ugly, angry world, full of bitter people whose fantasies don’t match the way the world really is, and who are enraged at the world for failing to rearrange itself to suit them. It would be amusing — okay, it frequently is — until one remembers that these unhinged people occupy positions of power and influence all over the country today. They’re even teaching our children.
