Dare to do what any good Catholic/Christian should do and take a bold stand for the lives of pre-born children, especially by praying for them outside baby murder mills like Planned Parenthood centers, and you'll quickly discover the whole left-wing mantra, “my body, my choice,” has some pretty strict limitations on its application.
For instance, if you choose to take your body to one of these ghastly modern temples of blood sacrifice to pray for the lives and souls of the children being murdered inside, as well as the mothers making this horrific choice, you might incur the wrath of liberals who firmly believe that freedom of speech only applies to them.
Let’s take a look at a recent example.
Over 30 faithful, practicing Catholics, including Philadelphia Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Coffey, several priests, the Sisters of Life, and a number of pro-life activists, gathered outside an abortion clinic and prayed for two hours in reparation for the grave sin of abortion. Left-wing pro-abortion activists shouted at and harassed these brave, loving souls for almost the entire time.
And yet, despite the vile pushback, they pressed on, determined to bring the power, glory, love, and mercy of Christ to bear against the dark spiritual forces that have ended the lives of innocent children and influenced mothers to offer their pre-born babies as sacrifices to the idol of convenience. That’s what true courage looks like.
Given the violence liberals have committed in recent years, from vandalizing pro-life organization buildings to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, these folks truly put their safety and well-being on the line to preserve and protect our nation’s most vulnerable citizens. In a situation like this, they had a lot to lose and nothing to gain. Catholics and Protestants alike have participated in ministry outside abortion mills and placed themselves in harm’s way because it’s what Jesus would — and did — do for them. For everyone.
When you love God more than you love yourself, something miraculous happens. A transformation. You begin to think God’s thoughts after Him. His will becomes your will. Your heart swells with a deep desire to see the good of others come to fruition, even if it means enduring suffering.
The protest kicked off at 7:30 in the morning on February 21. A group of 30 Catholics processed over half a mile from Holy Redeemer Chinese Catholic Church to the sidewalk outside the Philadelphia Women’s Center, where they took time to pray 15 decades of the rosary along with the Divine Mercy chaplet.
A mob of bloodthirsty pro-abortionists stood on the sidewalk across from the faithful and constantly mocked them and their faith, screaming at them and attempting to disrupt this holy, sacred time of prayer and intercession. They even tried to drown out the prayers by blasting loud, obnoxious music. If that doesn’t convince you of the reality of demonic opposition, I’m not sure what will.
In a sick twist of irony, the abortion clinic sits on the seventh floor of the building, which also houses a childcare center. Even more disturbing, the group of Catholics witnessed staff usher 20 people inside the building. No one knows for sure how many of these individuals went there to kill their unborn children, but some likely did.
In another bit of irony, the pro-abortion activists held signs featuring the popular left-wing slogan, “Black Lives Matter,” despite the fact that most of the children murdered at this facility are African American. If black lives mattered, why do so many progressives support ending them?
Bishop Coffey later explained to LifeSite News why prayer and public witness for Jesus Christ matter so deeply at abortion centers and in the neighborhoods where these facilities operate.
“We pray for the babies scheduled to die today in this facility. We pray as a public witness so that people across the street, who are wondering what’s going on here, can understand what’s happening. That way, people in the neighborhood can know that there’s a killing center right here,” the bishop said. “I also think it’s important that we’re here for the babies when they die. So I hope that someday, maybe we can meet them in heaven and they can say, ‘You were there, you were there with me when we died.’ For those reasons, it’s important to come and pray for life.”
Leftism is an evil ideology that seeks to destroy innocent human souls, whether through abortion, assassination, or persecution. However, for us as Christians, obeying the law of God and doing His will matters far more than allowing fear to silence us. Lives are literally depending on it.
