Buyer's remorse is a real thing, and American voters know the feeling well. Eight years of Barack Obama made it possible for Donald Trump to win in 2016, and Joe Biden's disastrous presidency, with its historic inflation, begat Trump's triumphant return. Now the Democrat Party has clawed its way back into power after the 2026 midterms, and it's about to remind everyone why voters booted it out in the first place.
Democrats love to pretend they won on affordability. In reality, they promised their base for a revenge tour, and that’s what they’re gonna do.. That might thrill their base, but the voters who actually wanted things fixed are in for a rude awakening.
Constitutional law scholar Jonathan Turley sees it coming.
On Wednesday, he warned that voters will regret handing Democrats the keys to Congress and statehouses across the country, and that the party's early obsession with locking up Trump officials and MAGA supporters will come back to bite it in 2028.
"I think that, first of all, people are going to realize that they really didn't offer any actual constructive ideas of how they were going to improve the economy," Turley told Fox News' Sean Hannity. "The economy is actually doing very well; it's gasoline prices that really proved to be horrendous for this election. But the Democrats don't have much to offer here."
ICYMI: Leftists Think Texas Is Blue Now. It’s Not.
Democrats would love for you to forget who created the affordability crisis to begin with. Voters seem destined to remember that it was under Joe Biden and the Democrats that inflation skyrocketed to historic levels and they kept telling us everything was just fine. Once the new majority starts governing, or failing to, that memory will come rushing back.
Turley also weighed in on which faction will steer the party once the new Congress gavels in.
"The DSA is driving this train, and what Schumer and Jeffries are going to find out is that that wing is going to have oversized power in the coming Congress," he said. "And so I think this is going to be a bit of a train wreck. We're looking at gridlock here. We don't have the votes to move these reforms, and that's the reason they're going to turn to investigations and impeachment."
🚨 JUST IN: Legal expert Jonathan Turley says buyer's remorse is about to sweep America after Democrats' blue tsunami because they will TURN TO IMPEACHMENT and WEAPONIZATION after nothing gets passed "[DSA wing] will have oversize power in Congress. THIS WILL BE A TRAINWRECK...they don't have the votes to move these reforms. That's the reason they'll turn to investigations and impeachments." "People are gonna realize they didn't offer any actual, constructive ideas about how to improve the economy." He's right. Democrats ran on affordability. Now they WILL hold the gavels, and the left is already pushing for subpoenas! Trump holds the veto pen, so ANY socialist agenda goes nowhere Then the Dems will put on a circus. This is the opportunity to expose them before 2028.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) insists Democrats have no interest in impeaching President Donald Trump. But he’s obviously lying. Democrats have wanted to impeach Trump since before his 2017 inauguration, impeached him twice during his first term, and kept floating the idea after voters sent him back to the White House in 2025.
On election night, congressional Democrats couldn't even wait for the votes to be fully counted before promising subpoenas and investigations and telling Trump and the GOP to "lawyer up." Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), who takes the gavel at the House Oversight Committee in January, released a victory statement laying out his plans and branding Trump's relatives "The Trump Crime Family." That's a party that has already decided Trump is guilty before finding an actual crime.
Democrats have been given a chance to prove they can govern. They're going to screw it up because they can't help themselves. A party that defines itself entirely by its hatred of one man has nothing to offer the people. Democrats will mistake their base's approval for a mandate, and leave voters wondering why they ever gave them another shot.
