The modern left never misses a chance to virtue signal. Diversity is its highest sacrament, and the social capital of embracing everything matters more to leftists than the consequences. They'll tolerate fraud to avoid offending Minnesota's Somali community. They'll excuse violent crime in the name of anti-racism. They'll even mutilate their own children to prove their devotion to trans ideology. And they'll welcome cultures openly hostile to their own and call it compassion.
Europe shows exactly where that road ends, and the view is terrifying.
France erupted on Saturday when weeks of youth unrest in the country's multicultural neighborhoods merged with far-left activists claiming to protest the cost of living. Rioters clashed with police, looted stores, and torched government buildings. In Limoges, flames destroyed the tower of the historic City Hall.

The toll is staggering. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced Sunday morning that police had arrested more than 2,000 people and that more than 600 police officers, gendarmes, and firefighters suffered injuries during the chaos.
"Outrages were committed by several thousand far-left individuals determined to target our public buildings and confront our law enforcement forces," Nuñez said. "Later, they were joined by delinquents who looted and ransacked numerous businesses in several cities across France: Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Rennes, Strasbourg, Grenoble, Nice, Limoges, … and many others."

The Macron government has trained its fire on Jean-Luc Mélenchon's far-left La France Insoumise (LFI) party for stoking the violence. That's convenient, because it lets the establishment dodge its own role in the crisis. Decades of mass migration under mainstream left-wing parties created ethnic enclaves in suburbs like Saint-Denis, where resentment has festered for generations, including among the children and grandchildren of migrants. Nobody asked them to assimilate, and plenty of them never did.
What does this have to do with the United States? Well, the Democrat Party has spent years treating border enforcement as bigotry and assimilation as oppression. France is what happens when that ideology runs unchecked for decades.
French conservatives see the danger clearly.
"Islamo-leftism threatens the Republic. The massive presence of Palestinian flags and community slogans is a terrible reality in these demonstrations, just like the presence of movements close to the Muslim Brotherhood," Nice Mayor Éric Ciotti said Saturday. "Alongside the black blocs, they seek to overthrow the Republic."
National Rally president Jordan Bardella described the protests as a pretext for the "convergence of an ultra-left terrorism and delinquent populations from the suburbs."
"These scenes of devastation, which illustrate the 'New France' that irresponsible individuals seek to unite, will never be acceptable," he added.
Bardella, the favorite to become prime minister if Marine Le Pen wins next year's race to succeed Emmanuel Macron, laid out a plan to fight back.
"From May 2027, if the silent majority of the French so decides, we will durably restore order: family allowances for recidivist delinquents will be suspended, the principle of rioter-pays will be applied to fully reimburse the amount of damages, any individual who attacks law enforcement will be brought before the courts for immediate trial and a heavy sentence, law enforcement will be supported, and their ranks strengthened," Bardella said. "Calm, respect for property and persons, civil peace must once again become the normal state of the country."
Woke tolerance can't distinguish between people who want to belong and people who want to burn the place down. France is now paying for that in fire, and America would be foolish to assume it's won't happen here.
