California has always been the test lab for the political left, the place where radical ideas get their tryout before going national. So what happens when people screaming in the face of the state's most aggressively left-wing legislator run him out of his own movement's celebration, calling him a sellout? If a guy such as Scott Wiener (D-Calif.) isn't left-wing enough anymore, how much farther left does the Democrat Party have left to go?
It’s a scary question, and I’m not sure I want to know the answer.
Just look at New York, where candidates aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America won three races. Two incumbents were ousted. These incumbents weren’t moderate Democrats; they were as far left as they could get.
The Democrat establishment is already about as radical as it's ever been, and apparently that's still not radical enough. That tells you everything about where this party is headed, and how fast it's getting there.
Which brings us to Wiener, the California state senator who is, by any honest measure, one of the most radical lawmakers in Sacramento, if not the entire country. Wiener didn't get caught at a Republican event or a Trump rally. He got run out of San Francisco's Trans March on Saturday… by his own side.
Masked, black-clad attendees surrounded him as he tried to leave, screaming in his face that he supported "a genocide in Gaza" and shouting "we f******g hate you." Really? I mean, this guy has been pandering to these nut jobs for years, and they hate him?
Here's video. Obviously, there's foul language here.
Scott Wiener showed up to the trans march and for the first time we kicked his ass out. It's sad because while he's written some good legislation for queers, hes ultimately a genocidal-supporting center right shill. Trigger warning: broken man walking away defeated. You read that correctly. Scott Wiener got mobbed at a leftist rally for not being left-wing enough. Seriously? You cannot get more radical left-wing than Scott Wiener, and his accusers still decided he wasn't trying hard enough.
ICYMI: Alaska Judge Rules It’s Okay for Democrats to Steal Elections
Look at his record. In 2023, he pushed AB 957, rewriting the state's Family Code so a judge could strip a parent of custody during a divorce simply for refusing to "affirm" a child's "gender identity." He's also the architect of SB 145, the "pro-pedophile" law for the way it softened penalties tied to certain sex offenses against minors under the banner of LGBTQ "equity."
Not bad enough? I’ll keep going. Wiener coauthored a bill making murderers eligible for parole after just 20 years, even when they killed multiple victims or killed alongside rape, robbery, kidnapping, or torture. He's pushed to make California a haven where confused kids can be whisked across state lines for irreversible gender surgeries, severing families in the process. Under the Transgender Respect, Agency and Dignity Act, which Wiener championed, a convicted male rapist need only claim to be transgender to land in a women's prison, regardless of what that means for the female inmates housed there. And he's worked to soften penalties for knowingly exposing other people to HIV, because in Wiener's world, holding someone accountable for that is "stigmatizing" to the LGBTQ community.
Yet, the Trans March crowd decided Weiner isn’t far enough to the left.
If even he can't satisfy his own coalition anymore, conservatives didn't exaggerate how radical the Democrat Party has become. We undersold it by a lot.
Did I mention he’s going to replace Nancy Pelosi in the House?
Yeah. Chew on that.
