No One Is Above the Law, Right? Right?

It's funny, isn't it? After four years of Democrats chanting "no one is above the law" to justify Joe Biden's weaponization of the Department of Justice against Trump and his allies, they go absolutely berserk every single time someone in their own party gets indicted for actual crimes. The script flips instantly. The outrage machine reverses course. And suddenly, every federal investigation involving a Democrat is a sinister plot cooked up by political enemies. The question worth asking: at what point does that defense stop working?

On Wednesday, we learned that FBI agents raided the office of Louise Lucas, a senior Democratic state senator from Portsmouth, Virginia, as part of an ongoing federal corruption investigation. It’s a big deal because Lucas is the President pro tempore of the Virginia Senate, a fixture in state politics for more than 30 years, arguably one of the most powerful Democrats in the commonwealth, and the key architect behind Virginia's new congressional redistricting maps.

Agents simultaneously executed a search warrant at a neighboring cannabis dispensary — The Cannabis Outlet — which Lucas co-owns. "Other locations were also searched," according to people familiar with the matter. The bureau's Norfolk field office confirmed agents were "executing a court-authorized federal search warrant in Portsmouth, Va."

And here’s an interesting detail from the New York Times:

Two people familiar with the case said the search was related to an investigation opened during the Biden administration that has continued, examining possible corruption and bribery related to marijuana dispensary businesses.

Really?

Started during the Biden administration?

How about that?

So, this probe didn't spring up the moment Lucas started drawing favorable congressional maps for the Democrats. It existed before any of that. Biden's DOJ launched it, and career investigators kept it going. That's not a Trump revenge operation. That's called following the evidence.

None of that stopped the left from losing its mind.

Democrats and sympathetic reporters sprinted to frame the raid as political retaliation for Lucas' redistricting work.

Reporter Sam Stein reacted on X by pointing to Lucas' redistricting role, writing, "i mean. maybe. she also just oversaw successful redistricting in VA and so you have to be suspect of this."

ICYMI: Barack Obama Said WHAT, Now? You Cannot Be Serious.

The selective memory is breathtaking. These are the same people who cheered every pre-dawn raid, every televised perp walk, every bogus indictment against Trump and his allies. They treated law enforcement as sacred and unimpeachable — right up until the moment law enforcement showed up at a Democrat's door.

Virginia Democrats, including House Speaker Don Scott and Attorney General Jay Jones, raised the specter of political motivation, though they notably offered no actual evidence to support it. Why? Because there isn’t any.
