Is the Media Catching on That Nominating Talarico Was a Mistake

Democrats thought they had a clever plan to flip Texas. Pick a fresh face, wrap him in faith, and make him the nominee for the U.S. Senate over Jasmine Crockett. On paper, it made sense. And Talarico defeated Crockett easily. And then the floodgate of opposition research opened up. Suddenly, flipping Texas looks like a lost cause again. And it looks like the media caught on that nominating this guy was actually a huge mistake, even if they won’t admit it.

And now the New York Times is running interference for Talarico.

“James Talarico, in one of his first interviews since winning the Democratic nomination for Senate in Texas, attacked the use of Christianity to promote conservative politics, saying his candidacy was part of a broader mission to counter what he sees as a partisan takeover of the American church,” the paper wrote.

Hours before his victory last Tuesday, prominent politicians, activists and pastors began assailing what they called Mr. Talarico’s “blaspheming tongue.”They blanketed podcasts, social media platforms and right-wing media outlets with video clips of him using the story of Jesus Christ’s conception to defend abortion rights, saying “God is nonbinary,” and finding spiritual truths beyond Christianity to support religious pluralism. Such positions, they argued, were an “abuse of Scripture” that disqualified him as a Christian leader.

Talarico also mocked a bill protecting girls’ sports while claiming “modern science” recognizes more than two sexes and asserting there are six.

The irony burns. Talarico slammed Christians for allegedly letting politics shape theology, while he is the one guilty of trying to distort Christianity to mesh with radical leftism.

ICYMI: Trump Denies Biden’s Executive Privilege Request. Here's Why it’s Biden’s Own Fault.

Why did he win the primary? Simple. Jasmine Crocket may have had name ID, but only for the reasons that won’t win you a statewide election in Texas. She also ran a terrible campaign, and Talarico outspent her five-to-one, blanketed Latino areas, and packed rallies. He pulled 53% to her 46%. Democrats saw him as the most electable option. And now, they’re realizing he’s not, and adding insult to injury, they don’t have the race or gender card to play anymore, and without them, Talarico's radical clips are GOP gold, proving how out of step he is with Texas values. In short, Talarico’s choirboy image has crumbled, and his faith card has expired. He’s no church savior, just another lefty seminary kid peddling heresy for votes.

Now reality is setting in, and the media is trying to salvage the race the best they can. That glowing Times piece? It’s just the beginning of the campaign to clean up the message Democrats got themselves into. Expect months of downplaying his rants on theology, race, prisons, and "transing kids."

In the end, I can’t help but laugh. Democrats picked the "safe" guy, but he's a liability bomb. Texas will stay red… again, and the left's church makeover will flop hard. Wonder how long before they admit the fix was in from the start?
