Texas Democrats thought they hit the jackpot nominating James Talarico over Jasmine Crockett in the U.S. Senate primary. It arguably was the safer, better bet… based on the available information. Heck, after the primary, I’ve seen plenty of comments from Republicans worried that this time Democrats might actually be able to pull off flipping Texas. Well, so much for that now.
Mark my words, Talarico is finished.
Talarico barely had time to celebrate his primary victory before Senate Republicans started circulating goldmine videos. We’re talking some of the most damning opposition research you could imagine if you’re a Democrat trying to win a deep red state like Texas.
One shows him literally using the Bible to defend transgender procedures for kids. "God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is nonbinary," he declared. "Trans children are God’s children made in God’s own image. There is nothing wrong with them, nothing at all."
Meet James Talarico, Texas’ Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate.

TALARICO: "Trans children are made in God's own image... They are perfect, they are beautiful, and they are sacred."

He said this after the Texas House passed a bill banning men from women's sports. pic.twitter.com/N4Je6qCEn8
That's not all.
Another clip shows him calling Jesus a "radical feminist" who upended gender norms in ancient times. He even told a church crowd that the "trans community" deserves "abortion care."
JAMES TALARICO: "Did they teach you in Sunday school that Jesus Christ himself was a radical feminist?"

Back in 2021, he mocked a bill limiting girls' sports, insisting science proves there are more than two genders. "Modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes," he said. “In fact, there are six.”

On the border, Talarico is no better. "Our southern border should be like our front porch. There should be a giant welcome mat out front," he gushed.

He also once claimed that atheists act "more Christ-like" than his Christian colleagues in the legislature.
And then there’s the racism. Hoo boy!
“White skin gives me and every white American immunity from the virus,” he wrote in a post on X. “But we spread it wherever we go—through our words, our actions, and our systems. We don’t have to be showing symptoms—like a white hood or a Confederate flag—to be contagious.”
This was posted in the early weeks of the COVID pandemic, mind you.
Then there’s this, where he basically proclaimed to be a self-loathing white man.
"For me, prophetic voices like Jesus have helped me reckon with my own whiteness, my own masculinity, my own certainty, my own ego,” he said. “It’s a never-ending process, and it's a painful process."
James Talarico hates white people, & he hates himself.

I know a lot of people are concerned that migration from California is turning Texas purple and that there’s a legitimate threat of flipping Texas this year because of it. But migration from California has been ongoing for years, and Trump won the state by 14 points in 2024, more than double his 2020 margin. Trump may not be on the ballot in 2026, but it’s clear where Texas stands.
