If you are going to vote for governor, Congress, or other state and local offices on election day, don’t forget that many Democrats have openly defied or broken federal immigration laws. And remind your friends and family of this reality, which makes our communities so much less safe.
Gov. JB Pritzker (D-Ill.) is running for reelection, and he is one of the most egregious examples of a politician whose actions meet the legal definition of federal immigration violations. He lied about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and called them racist at the height of violence against immigration officers. Pritzker issued driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, blocked law enforcement and school cooperation with ICE, gave student aid to noncitizens, and spent lavishly on illegal alien healthcare. The governor also lied about ICE warrantless arrest powers while ignoring the agony of an angel dad who lost his daughter to sanctuary policies.
Why might this be illegal? 8 U.S. Code § 1324 penalizes harboring illegal aliens and protecting them from federal consequences. Punishments range from fines to decades in prison and, where a death results, the death penalty, obviously depending on the severity and nature of the violation. Another law Pritzker might have broken is 18 U.S. Code § 118, which punishes any “person who knowingly and willfully obstructs, resists, or interferes with a Federal law enforcement agent engaged, within the United States or the special maritime territorial jurisdiction of the United States, in the performance of the protective functions.” Similarly, 18 U.S. Code § 111 punishes anyone who “assaults, resists, opposes, impedes, intimidates, or interferes with” immigration officers.

With all that in mind, we turn to Xavier Becerra, the former Biden HHS secretary running for governor in California. He trafficked over 400,000 illegal alien minors into America and deliberately handed most of them over to traffickers and exploiters. He complained that the process should be an “assembly line,” urging underlings to reduce even the pitiful verifications they had and pass kids off to whoever asked for custody. Talk about someone who was complicit in mass criminal activities.
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) has proudly enforced sanctuary policies to protect illegal aliens and block ICE arrests. Hochul refused to honor over 14,000 ICE detainers, including for hundreds of rapists and thousands of assaulters. Similarly, Gov. Maura Healey (D-Mass.) has consistently prioritized illegal alien criminals over citizen victims. A criminal recently described Massachusetts as a “sanctuary” for illegal alien and other noncitizen welfare fraudsters. Her PROTECT Act stopped state and local law enforcement cooperation with ICE and made it easier to release illegal alien criminals.

In my home state of Arizona, Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) has not been so blatantly pro-illegal migration as Pritzker or Becerra, since she did allow the hiring of more state troopers for border enforcement, and she criticized a fellow Democrat’s extreme encouragement to violence against ICE. On the other hand, last year, she vetoed the ICE Act, which would have required police and sheriffs around the state to cooperate with ICE detainer requests. Therefore, she did, in fact, protect illegal aliens and thwart immigration enforcement. An Arizona Democrat running for reelection who actively participatedin a violent assault on federal immigration officers is Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.).
This is just a sample of the state and federal politicians who are guilty of actions which apparently violate federal laws. Apply the standard of the laws mentioned above to your local candidates before you head to the polls.
