In this year alone, over 3,000 Nigerian Christians have been killed, mostly by Islamic terrorism. So when are all of the activists who love to scream “genocide” about Gaza going to hold marches, send flotillas, and raise money?
There was more than one Hamas flotilla. The American government has not withdrawn plans to orchestrate a rebuild of Gaza despite the Palestinian Authority (PA) bragging about continued pay-for-slay. There are still constant protests in support of Palestinian terrorists in major cities across the West, including America. The Vatican has issued more extravagant statements about Gaza than about Nigeria. Practically every U.S. university has anti-Israel activists, and nearly every Western government sent aid of some kind to Gaza. But what has Nigeria’s crisis attracted? A couple of strikes on ISIS from the Americans. The contrast is staggering.
Apparently, when Westerners cannot blame Jews for the killings, and when the victims are Christians, suddenly no one cares. More than a decade of massacres in Nigeria has not garnered a quarter of the international attention that a couple of years of amply deserved strikes in Gaza did. The Gaza numbers were bogus, exaggerated Hamas propaganda. The Nigeria numbers were all too real. But when nearly 30,000 African Christians die in six years, that doesn’t cause international scandal.
At least 3,083 Christians were killed and 3,193 abducted in Nigeria between January and August 2026 amid continuing jihadist and communal violence. The organization also estimates that around 400 churches were attacked and 25 priests and pastors were killed or kidnapped during the eight-month period. Nigerian rights group InterSociety estimates that 19,800 Christian churches have been attacked or destroyed across Nigeria since July 2009. In the Catholic Diocese of Wukari in Taraba State alone, it reports 230 churches destroyed between September 2025 and August 2026, more than 100,000 Catholic parishioners displaced, 200 Christian villages looted and 16 priests forced to flee after their rectories were burned. InterSociety further says the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria (EYN) and the Universal Reformed Christian Church (NKST) have collectively lost more than 27,000 members and thousands of places of worship since Nigeria's jihadist insurgency began in 2009.

Don’t expect the idiots who dance on street corners screaming “free Palestine” and “from the river to the sea” to protest the true genocide in Nigeria, because the perpetrators there are largely Islamic terrorists. The reality is that the Gaza fury has nothing to do with reality, with justice, with care for human life. The left in the West has simply decided that it will select the so-called Palestinians out of all groups to empathize with because they are Muslims, they hate Israel and America, and they write clever propaganda.
This is why I find it so hard to stomach people who whine about Gaza. They are not only on the side of terrorists, but they are so flagrantly hypocritical about supporting any victims of true genocide, from Nigeria to Syria to China. When it comes to Nigerian Christians, leftists don’t believe that Black Lives Matter.
