Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) managed to shove Spencer Pratt out of the mayoral race thanks to alleged election shenanigans and now seems likely to win reelection. That is, she will win if she doesn’t end up in handcuffs over a massive fraud scheme first.
After years of evidence that her city has been giving money to NGOs with criminal associates that hand out shocking items like drug paraphernalia, it seems Bass might finally be implicated in a crime directly. Bass resigned as a commissioner of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) last week. And coincidentally, the Trump administration just announced that Los Angeles officials are likely guilty of tens of millions of dollars worth of homeless-funding fraud.
Spencer Pratt, who is still understandably bitter after an alleged massive network of people bribing homeless people to vote for Bass and Nithya Raman contributed to his primary loss, posted:

Housing and Urban Development Sec. Scott Turner is investigating people guilty of $130 million in fraud, but $75 million of that came through LAHSA. Turner absolutely blames LAHSA, which tripled its funding even as homelessness in the area doubled. LAHSA receives more homeless funding than any other entity in America, but it is “riddled with fraud, waste, and abuse,” Turner stated. That means everyone in LAHSA, including Bass, was either deliberately committing fraud or knowingly covering up for it. Incidentally, Bass’s socialist opponent, Nithya Raman, also sits on a homelessness committee in Los Angeles, although not LAHSA; still, she could be complicit in fraud.
Of course, all this would hardly be surprising, as Bass has openly committed other violations of the law. For example, Bass made a filmed campaign promotion that included footage of her breaking an electioneering law earlier this year. And she breaks federal laws constantly with her sanctuary policies protecting illegal aliens and interfering with federal immigration enforcement (see 8 U.S. Code § 1324 and 18 U.S. Code § 111).

There are also other shady scandals in which she is indirectly implicated. I already mentioned above the fact that the California Post interviewed homeless people who said they received anywhere from $2 to $5 to vote for Bass and that there are regular vote harvests on behalf of leftist politicians. And Bass certainly continued providing money to NGOs that were handing out drug paraphernalia to homeless drug addicts, despite many citizen complaints and evidence that this was a terrible idea.

Then there’s the lawsuit against Bass for gross mismanagement and delayed firefighting decisions that contributed to the deadly and disastrous Palisades fire last year. Even her own brother is suing her. Bass has also slow-rolled the rebuild.
In short, the least surprising thing would be if Bass were among those responsible for fraud. Unfortunately, given the two-tiered system of justice in our country, it would be surprising if she ever actually faced severe consequences for it. But we can always hope.
