Around the country, universities have done little more than change a few department names, invent some new jargon, and hope the federal government will not notice that DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) is as much part of their curriculum and standards as ever.
And unless the Trump administration simply cuts off all federal funding to universities until they can prove in a dramatic way DEI is gone, the garbage will continue at our expense. Half-hearted measures cannot accomplish what needs to be accomplished. It’s not exactly constitutional for the federal government to be funding universities anyway, but especially not when those universities are so blatantly violating other federal requirements.
IBISWorld projected that this year, the American government will spend $216.2 billion on universities. That would include grants, scholarships, and more. Think of how much money taxpayers, including many who never had the opportunity to go to college, are spending on universities that are little more than woke propaganda mills.
Meanwhile, as of September 9, our national debt is at about $40 trillion and climbing all the time. We could save so much money if we cut off universities that are ignoring the Trump administration’s rules even while they pay lip service to change.
Universities around the country still have gender studies departments and LGBTQ offices and racially or sexually segregated events and biased admissions/hiring standards. Furthermore, countless universities defy federal law on illegal alien students. I recently identified dozens of universities across almost half the United States that still provide financial aid to illegal aliens. On top of that, numerous universities continue to allow radical antisemitic activism. None of these institutions of woker learning should be receiving federal funding.
But to return to the topic of DEI specifically, Campus Reform has highlighted multiple examples of what I mean about universities not really changing their tune. I also included a couple of exposés that Accuracy in Media produced. Even private universities can receive federal grants and have many students using federal loans.

At the University of Virginia, there are multiple different courses for students who want to study “queer theory” and radical gender ideology this fall, including “Streaming Sexualities,” “Policing Queerness,” “Feminist Science Studies,” “Black Feminist Theory,” and “Dangerous Bodies: Obscenity, Sex, and Censorship.”
New York’s Pace University automatically enrolls students in a health insurance plan that includes “gender affirming care,” Campus Reform reported. In Minneapolis, “Augsburg [University] touts DEI certificate: ‘Federal policies may change, but Augsburg’s mission has not’.” The university offers a program for obtaining certification in DEI. Similarly, “Central Connecticut State University features dedicated Marxism course and several race- and gender-based economics classes.”
Excelsior University has a business course urging students to incorporate DEI into “all aspects of leadership,” and also:
Beloit College in Wisconsin requires an “equity advisor” and a plan for “diversifying and deepening the candidate pool” when searching for new tenure-track faculty members.
Virginia State University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Morgan State University in Maryland are all baking “equity” and “bias” propaganda into artificial intelligence education and research.
Someone at the University of Minnesota was flagged to the school’s bias response system for using the word “mothers” instead of “lactating individuals.”

I could provide endless examples, but you get the point. The Trump administration should take decisive action to cut off the flow of taxpayer money to DEI-loving universities.
