California Medicaid officials are so stupid they reportedly fell for the old Nigerian prince scam. Or maybe they actually are excited at the thought that foreign criminal fraudsters can get American taxpayer money. After all, Democrats fund illegal aliens as much as possible, and they refuse to reform fraud-riddled healthcare programs.
Most of us hear "falling for the Nigerian prince who needs a palace scam" and think it's a worn-out joke. But U.S. taxpayers might have helped a Nigerian royal build and purchase multiple palatial residences both at home and in the U.S., because California's Medicaid system is rife with fraud. Chief Nathan Ogbatue poses as a philanthropist who provides his community with roads, housing, clinics, and food. But it seems part of the reason he has so much money is that he is CEO of the California Home Health Agency (CHHA), which a new City Journal investigation identified as raking in $34 million from Medicaid. At the same time as CHHA made that money, from 2023 to 2024, Ogbatue and his wife suddenly were able to purchase $7 million worth of property.
California's Health Care Access told City Journal that it has not received a report from CHHA since 2019, even though a report is mandatory. While CHHA's Medicaid revenues were about $89,500 in 2018, by 2022 they were $4 million, and then they reached $17 million in 2023.
The real-estate records seem to reveal a similar trajectory. In 2000, Ogbatue bought a Riverside home for $330,000. Then, between 2023 and 2024, he and his wife purchased the $2.7 million Riverside mansion, a $1.9 million beach house, and $1.4 million in other Riverside properties. In all, the Ogbatues acquired more than $7 million worth of property between 2023 and 2024.
The home that Ogbatue bought in Redondo Beach was tied to another Nigerian family. Before Ogbatue took possession of the home, it served as collateral for the bail bond of Tamara Motley, who was sentenced to prison in December 2023 for submitting $24 million worth of fraudulent claims to Medicare.
City Journal was able to contact Ogbatue, but he refused even to estimate how many people he employs at CHHA. Between the lack of mandatory reports and the refusal to provide any information on how CHHA operates, City Journal suspects some monkey business. The problem is that California Health Care Access has yet to take action to investigate CHHA.

You can read more details about Ogbatue at City Journal if you wish, but I want to develop the point that Democrats are not helping foreign fraudsters because they're incompetent. Dems want to help foreign criminals. This is part of the lefty plan to create a globalist criminal elite and redistribute wealth from capitalistic, free countries like America to terror-plagued dictatorships like Nigeria. Remember, lefties hate the fact that so many people in America can own property and achieve upward mobility. We peasants are supposed to realize all our hard-earned money belongs to the leeches at the top.
There's ample evidence of shady mass ballot harvesting and illegal alien voting in California, but Dems there refuse to give the Trump administration data on registered voters, because they're happy with the fraud. Heck, they set up the fraud networks. Similarly, California Dems were furious when the Trump administration uncovered the insanely high rate of healthcare fraud in the state and froze Medicaid funding accordingly.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) brags about using taxpayer money to give illegal aliens healthcare. If he's proud of funneling citizens' money to some foreign lawbreakers, why shouldn't he be happy to provide the money to other foreign lawbreakers like potentially criminal Nigerian chiefs?

If Ogbatue really is growing wealthy off Medicaid fraud, it will please Newsom rather than offend him. Perhaps that little crown that Newsom's office imposed on its X account image of him is telling. The governor of California feels an affinity for foreign aristocrats like Ogbatue and their method of exploiting ordinary people.
