Long before Marxist propaganda poisoned so many countries around the world, the United States of America was the land of opportunity for laborers from the humblest to the richest, a land where even a poor farmer or shop worker could gain respect, achieve upward mobility, and buy property. There was a particular boom of wealth after the end of slavery and at the height of the Industrial Revolution in America, which capitalism, not Communism, all fueled.
Communism is a revenge ideology, which means that it becomes popular by promising large numbers of bitter or impoverished or greedy people the redistributed wealth of others. But since Communism also has absolutely no feasible way of generating wealth, countries with socialist revolutions always end up becoming dictatorships where most people are poorer than ever, and only a few people at the top benefit. On the other hand, countries that have tried capitalism have experienced unprecedented prosperity. This is part of the reality that Labor Day attempts to mask.
The reality is that socialist activism is the reason we have a Labor Day. Forbes explained that President Grover Cleveland chose the September date because he was trying to appease labor unions while simultaneously divorcing the celebration somewhat from the Communists, who preferred May Day. But while Cleveland was trying to work out a compromise not obviously associated with socialism, the holiday would never have come into being had it not been for the Commie activism. Unlike so many other national holidays, Labor Day derives not from patriotic fervor or an important American historical event, but rather from socialist agitation. It was an outgrowth of the lie that the solution to abuses of capitalism was the even greater abuses of socialism.
When labor unions first began to form, many of the early members had very legitimate complaints against monopolistic employers. But all too quickly, socialists co-opted labor unions and turned them into what they are today, leftist social change vehicles. Now the unions are every bit as dictatorial about membership and as opposed to freethinking among their members as the business tycoons of old were. And just like some of the businessmen both of the past and present, labor unions will often make alliances with certain politicians or political movements that fuse government and “private” employment into one monolithic entity.
During the COVID era, for instance, Big Tech and Big Pharma companies colluded with the Biden administration to crush free speech and enforce disastrous “treatments,” while teachers’ unions prolonged the lockdowns. Now labor unions are part of the anti-ICE movement, protecting illegal alien workers at the expense of American workers.

The “Gilded Age” and the so-called “Progressive Era” begot a massive surge of economic expansion and wealth creation in the late 1800s in early 1900s that ended not simply because of the 1929 market crash, but because the federal government prolonged the suffering with endless idiotic policy meddling. But eventually, despite periods of Democrat administrations sabotaging the economy throughout the 20th century, Americans overall became much more wealthy from the end of World War II until now. Socialistic policies usually caused the problems, and undermined capitalism sometimes to a great degree and sometimes to a lesser degree. The successes came from capitalist measures.
Capitalism improved the standard of living greatly throughout the 20th century. Who knows how much more it could have accomplished if not for government programs such as the War on Poverty, which wasted trillions of dollars without meaningfully budging the poverty line. The last thing America needs is more socialism. Capitalism is the system that boosts ordinary workers, not Communism.
