For your latest homeschooling advertisement, I bring you the infamous teachers’ union boss Randi Weingarten, who as usual is prioritizing woke politics over quality education to start off the school year.
The Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University acknowledged earlier this year that there is a "generation-long decline" in American test scores, across demographics, with reading scores down in over eight out of ten school districts and math scores down in seven out of ten school districts as compared to a decade ago. But does that bother Randi Weingarten, TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome)? No, she has bigger issues in mind, such as the fact that despite her union the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) being a Target stockholder, it couldn’t force Target to denounce arrests of dangerous illegal alien criminals.
AFT issued a press release on August 19, pushing the deceptively named “Shop Smart, Not Target” campaign. While Target spent years cultishly promoting woke causes, it pulled back on the DEI nonsense and refused to make a big deal out of the despicable anti-ICE movement since Trump took office. So Weingarten is now issuing veiled threats against Target, and trying to turn activists who got killed while committing illegal and potentially deadly attacks into heroes.
“We gave Target ample time to stand with the communities in which they operate and help their neighbors, but its silence about federal immigration abuses has been deafening,” ranted Weingarten, who is not in the least bothered about the hundreds or thousands of Americans — including countless schoolchildren — who suffered assault, robbery, rape, or murder because of illegal aliens.
“We wrote letters, passed resolutions and reached out to management in good faith but have yet to see any meaningful movement,” gibbered Weingarten. “The issue could not be more pressing: Seven months since the murders of Alex Pretti and Renée Good, masked ICE agents are still in our streets, our schools and our communities, terrorizing families in the name of Donald Trump’s illegal and immoral assault on immigrants striving for their American Dream. That’s why we’re urging our members to avoid Target and patronize more ethical shopping alternatives this back-to-school season.”
Both Pretti and Good died while breaking federal law and committing assault with deadly weapons on immigration officers. These are the kind of dirtbags whom AFT teachers want their students to admire and imitate. And thanks to rhetoric such as Weingarten’s, there has been an 8,000% increase in death threats and over 1,300% increase in assaults on ICE.
AFT has a website which union members and activists can use to propose alternatives to Target in each zip code for back-to-school shopping. I did not link it here because I do not want to help their project.
Is it just me, or does this paragraph almost sound like a threat against Target to start responding to AFT demands, given its stockholder status?
Historically, millions of AFT members and parents have relied on Target for classroom and school-related supplies, spending hundreds of millions of dollars at the retailer every year. Additionally, AFT members participate in pension funds with an estimated $4 trillion in assets and hold direct ownership of 6.79 million shares in Target stock, with billions in indirect exposure. Meanwhile, American parents say they expect to spend an average of $922 on back-to-school shopping this year.
Natasha Dockter, vice president of the teacher chapter of Minneapolis Federation of Teachers, claimed this is a “scary time,” and she is right, but not for the reason she claimed. It is scary that one of the biggest teachers’ union in America is so obsessed with protecting foreign criminals instead of boosting the test scores and skills of American children.
