The devastating fire that turned parts of Spokane, Wash., into heaps of ashes and charred stumps began with arson and grew out of control thanks to woke environmentalism.
The idiot environmentalists who block fire prevention just ensure more land ends up burning. How is that friendly to nature? It’s amazing how lefty ideology always leaves destruction in its wake. Putting Democrats in charge of one’s state is literally like handing lighter fluid to a man with a torch.
Ironically, only a few months ago, some Spokane homeowners were griping to the media about “illegal” thinning of underbrush. Between local wokies and officious Washington law (which forbids clearing any plants at state parks), there was no widespread implementation of one of the most effective measures for preventing rapid and extremely destructive fire spread. Then the Old Trails fire began to burn over the weekend, devouring acres of plants and buildings. And yes, that’s the exact area where state officials refused to do any official brush clearing because of environmental concerns. Talk about shooting oneself in the foot.
Now enter Aaron F. Farinacci, the suspect reportedly under arrest for arson in the case of the Spokane Fire.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office arrested Farinacci for arson as of Monday and accused him of starting the Old Trails Fire, according to ABC15. His handiwork has led to the torching of 700 buildings and the evacuation of 60,000 or more people. Talk about a carbon footprint.
[Previously,] Farinacci was convicted on charges stemming from a 2010 shooting that left his father dead at their home in Mesa.
The two had reportedly been arguing about Farinacci doing the dishes, which eventually led to the deadly shooting, according to Mesa police at the time.
He was later located with a self-inflicted gunshot wound before being arrested for the murder.
And yet somehow he’s free—or was until his latest arrest in Washington. Here’s another problem leftists cause. They release violent criminals, even murderers, as quickly as possible, thus ensuring more deadly crime. If we still had a death penalty for murderers, Farinacci would never have been able to start the fires.
The same nightmare already overtook the Palisades because of Democrat politicians who also refused to take any basic preventative measures or collect water in reservoirs. Furthermore, the Palisades fire was arson, too, courtesy of a leftist nutjob. Are you starting to see a pattern here? Woke elites gin up hatred and violence, turn their states into tinderboxes, deal very badly with the fires their brainwashed minions cause, and then claim they need control of the burned-out private property.
