When crime-loving New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill began griping again about an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin called her out for having much worse conditions in her state prisons than in the Newark federal facility.
Sherrill doesn't care about prison reform; she just wants to make political capital off lefty outrage over detention of foreign lawbreakers. Not only is she screeching about detention of illegal alien murderers, pedophiles, rapists, robbers, terrorists, and drug traffickers — the most dangerous and despicable criminals — but she is deliberately fueling the ongoing violence against ICE outside the Newark Delaney Hall facility. In fact, she is arguably breaking federal law, and I wish we lived in a country where having a political title didn't exempt one from facing legal consequences.
After being denied access for weeks, I was finally allowed into Delaney Hall – but what I received was a closely controlled and limited tour of the facility. That is unacceptable.

I was not allowed to meet or speak directly with the detainees, which continues to raise serious…
Sherrill and other leftists have been wailing without any evidence that conditions inside Delaney Hall are "inhumane." One of their arguments for this was that ICE was not catering to each and every criminal alien with a menu based on his home country's ethnic food. And I wish I were making that up. Ironically, the Delaney Hall meals are better than the meals at most New Jersey schools.
Speaking of the ICE facility being better than New Jersey institutions, Mullin called Sherrill out for her prison hypocrisy. "On June 8th, I personally granted you access to the facility as an act of good faith— despite you having exactly ZERO federal oversight authority. Of course, you’re still trying to turn Delaney Hall into a political football for the radical left," Mullin wrote on X. "You were told BEFORE you went in you would not have the ability to speak to detainees. This is a federal facility, Governor. You are NOT federally elected. I suggest you and your health inspectors spend more time at your New Jersey state detention facilities. Delaney Hall has 2x more medical personnel per detainee than NJ state prison, and at least 2x as much square footage. Detainees are also 2x more likely to die in NJ state custody."
For a list of some of the heinous thugs detained at the Newark ICE facility, check out this link. Assaults on ICE officers are up by at least 1347% since the Trump administration took office, and irresponsible rabble-rousers like Sherrill are complicit in that violence. She even tried to establish a "protected" zone for the violent protestors outside Delaney Hall. Check out some of the protestors' handiwork:

18 U.S. Code § 111 forbids impeding or interfering with federal immigration officers. And 8 U.S. Code § 1324 bans Americans from harboring or shielding illegal aliens, and abetting those who harbor aliens. Sherrill would seem pretty clearly to be violating the former and quite possibly the latter as well. Should Mullin be charging her with illegal activities?
