Iranian pilgrims marking the alleged anniversary of Mohammad’s seventh-century Hijrah, or flight from Mecca to Medina, were as consumed with Jihadi fervor as Mohammad once was. And guess who the target of the Iranians’ chants was.
The freedom fighters among the Iranian people love America and Israel and dream of the day when Persia will be our ally. But so long as the Islamic regime is in charge there, Iran's official government policy will be “death to America.” The recently eliminated Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said so many times, as has current Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. My point in this article is that such people are not reclaimable.

Westerners, at least within the last couple of centuries, have fallen victim to the idea that all people are basically the same, and if other nations and peoples display what we consider irrational behaviors, it is merely because of some misunderstanding or some bad thing we have done to make them distrust us.

So, for instance, in those rare instances where Westerners admit that there is a global Islamic vendetta against Jews and Christians, the argument is always something stupid such as “they resent the Crusades” or “Israel shouldn’t have its current borders” instead of acknowledging that Islamic sacred texts have been explicitly commanding the murder of non-Muslims for nearly a millennium and a half.

That is what is missing from so much of the coverage of the Iran war, which in truth has actually been ongoing for about half a century, and there are culprits both on the left and the right in America. American journalists and politicians keep asking “why won’t the Iranian leaders surrender when they are losing?” or they accuse Donald Trump of starting a war, as if he were not responding to over four decades of Iranian terrorism. Both those who expect the Iranian regime to make a peace deal and those who claim the conflict is all our fault fundamentally and willfully misunderstand the fanatical Islamic Jihad mindset.
The Mecca Iranian pilgrims were shouting "Israel is the enemy of Allah," "Death to demagogic America," "Die, America!" "Israel, die!" and "America is the Great Satan" because they are convinced their demon-god has ordained that their religion will conquer the earth and that America is a cursed and doomed obstacle to that destiny. No amount of successful strikes on the Iranian regime, no peace deal, and no arguments will ever sway such people away from their cult-like mentality.
