An organization with ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, and recognized as a terrorist organization in at least two states, not only has donated to schools in Sacramento County, but is pushing local Democrat candidates.
A federal judge ruled almost two decades ago that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was linked to Hamas, and the group's blatant ties to Jihadis have garnered renewed scrutiny within the last two years. It turns out the California branch of CAIR gave tens of thousands of dollars to a school district in Sacramento County, the same county where the group is urging voters to cast ballots based on which leftist candidates are most aligned with CAIR’s radical vision.
Defending Education exposed the school district scandal in a May 27 release:
After the terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, CAIR’s executive director Nihad Awad stated, “I was happy to see people breaking the siege…the people of Gaza have the right to self-defense, have the right to defend themselves, and yes, Israel, as an occupying power, does not have that right to self-defense.” The Form 990 for CAIR’s California chapter revealed that the state chapter provided San Juan Unified School District with $175,602 in Fiscal Year 2024 for “refugee and entrant assistance state/replacement designee administered programs.”
It would be interesting to know exactly who the alleged refugees are. We know for a fact that Hamas Jihadis and other terrorists — thousands of them — fled to the United States within the last few years, including one man the FBI tracked down in Louisiana who participated in the Oct. 7 atrocities. Besides that, the Trump administration assessed that the majority of asylum claims are fraudulent. In light of all that information, I can't help but wonder exactly which shady individuals the San Juan Unified School District and CAIR were helping. Defending Education said the refugees' names were in Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Russian, and Ukrainian.

But in addition to Defending Education's exposé, I also found that CAIR is meddling in Sacramento County's local politics. CAIR produces three extensive California voting guides to promote specific candidates and propositions, and the Northern California guide includes four endorsements for Sacramento County: Flojaune Cofer (District 1, County Board), Eric Guerra (District 1, County Board), Jennifer Saleem Chawla (District 1, City Council), and Karina Talamantes (City Council, District 3).
Cofer appears to be a Commie candidate, with endorsements from the Jane Fonda Climate PAC, Bernie Sanders-tied Our Revolution, California Working Families Party, the local AFL-CIO branch, and Black Women Organized for Political Action. She particularly prioritizes climate alarmism. Guerra's endorsements include the Sacramento County Young Democrats, Sacramento Democratic Alliance, Sacramento Latino Democratic Club, and Sacramento Stonewall Democrats. When it comes to CAIR, the jihad-loving organization gave Cofer and Guerra a mid-level endorsement: "both are viable." Their primary is June 2.
Chawla, meanwhile, is a former FBI official who claims she left after Donald Trump's second administration began because "she felt the institution’s direction no longer aligned with her values. She did not walk away from public service — she walked away from complicity." Apparently, the Biden administration's four years of weaponized justice weren't enough to drive her away; only Trump's election was. CAIR is so enthusiastic about Chawla that it gave her its highest endorsement level: "STRONG ALIGNMENT, INTEGRITY, AND CLEAR COMMUNITY BENEFIT."
Finally, Sacramento Vice Mayor and Councilmember Talamantes is proud to be helping run a woke city with a crime rate so high that Crime Grade estimates it cost the city $1.2 billion last year. Like other California cities, Sacramento also has a scandalous homelessness problem, fueled by city government's wasteful spending. Talamantes asserts that the homeless crisis is a priority for her, but that just means more waste of taxpayer money that perpetuates the crisis. The Sacramento Democrat Party, the Sacramento County Young Democrats, and Sacramento Stonewall Democrats all endorse Talamantes. Like Chawla, Talamantes earned CAIR's highest endorsement rating.
Not only are all these candidates either outright Marxists or Trump-hating wokies, they also all apparently advance the agenda of CAIR, which Florida and Texas both labeled a foreign terrorist organization.
