On Saturday evening, a deranged radical who was heavily armed charged a security checkpoint at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, triggering a flurry of gunshots and necessitating President Donald Trump’s evacuation. The assassination attempt occurred on the eve of a significant American anniversary, one tied to the bloodiest conflict in our history, which Democrats launched while violently protesting a Republican president’s election.
Cole Allen reportedly confessed to specifically targeting Trump administration officials. He also seemingly donated to Democrat Kamala Harris, based on data obtained from the Federal Election Commission website, but regardless of the truth of that accusation, Allen was explicitly targeting Republican politicians. And the phenomenon of leftists trying to assassinate Republicans and other political opponents or fueling widespread political violence is nearly as old as the Democrat Party.
I referred above to the fact that today, April 26, is the anniversary of an important historical event involving the Civil War, which Democrats launched in response to the election of anti-slavery Republican Abraham Lincoln. Many Americans think of Gen. Robert E. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox Court House to U.S. Grant as the end of the war, but actually, there was another Confederate army still in the field. In fact, Confederate Gen. Joseph E. Johnston’s surrender on April 26 of 1865 to Union Gen. William T. Sherman at Bennett Place, North Carolina, was the largest surrender of the Civil War.
Not everyone who fought on the Confederate side was Democrat, and some Democrats decided to stick with the Union. But the leaders who started the war, the Confederate leaders who pushed the egregious Retaliatory Act that mandated the numerous war crimes that their armies committed, and the former Confederates who continued to enact Jim Crow legislation and found domestic terror groups like the KKK after the war, were Democrats. Among these men are Confederate President Jefferson Davis, his Vice President Alexander Stephens, and Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest.

The carnage of the Civil War and the almost perpetual political unrest and violence of the post-war years were a direct product of the Democrat Party's anti-freedom, anti-American, pro-violence policies. Democrat have always believed in autocracy, in exploitative labor policies, in unconstitutional executive decisions, in political riots, in assassinations of critics, in rigged elections and race-baiting. They believed in those evils in 1861, they believed in them in 1865, and they believe in them now.
For two centuries, American Patriots have been hoping and praying that diehard Democrats would somehow, someday, want peace. We compromised with them and offered deals to them and even helped them whitewash their 19th century history. But the Democrats never wanted peace, they wanted a one-party oligarchical state where everyone who doesn't agree with them lives in fear of speaking his mind.
Cole Allen is not a lone wolf or anomaly. He is one of many products of the leftist insanity that has plagued our nation since before Bennett Place and up to the present day.
