School Superintendent Coolly Justifies Showing Kids Wildly Inappropriate Picture Book

When a state legislator confronted him with the extremely graphic sexual nature of an image shown to kindergartners and elementary school students in his district, a North Carolina school superintendent calmly declared it was perfectly uncontroversial and what any child might see in his community.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Superintendent Dr. Rodney Trice apparently wants little kids to believe that homosexual eroticism in public, coupled with bondage and sadomasochistic perversions, is totally normal and healthy and acceptable. At least, that’s what his justifications regarding shocking content in his schools indicate. This creepy superintendent needs to get the sack faster than you can say “child groomer.”

The North Carolina House oversight committee brought Trice in on Tuesday to testify over allegations of his violating the Parents Bill of Rights, North Carolina legislation which requires school districts to prioritize certain parental rights, from obtaining medical and religious immunization exemptions to reviewing library and classroom materials. The state legislators aimed to give parents as much control and oversight as possible over their children’s education, but some state educators and administrators have been undermining that. Among them, it seems, is Rodney Trice.

Rep. Brenden Jones put up a vile image from a library book aimed at young children and challenged Trice, “Two men in BDSM outfits making out is currently available in your elementary schools. So I'm just asking, should that be allowed or not?”

This was followed by a pause, so finally Jones challenged, “Dr. Rice, you're looking at the picture. You got guys in kink outfits.” Trice’s lame comeback was, “I'm not sure. I’m not sure what I'm looking at.” Jones drily answered, “You're not sure what you're looking at, but you're okay with kindergartners look[ing] at it. Is this your goal? Is this what you want kindergartners through fourth grade — Is this the goal? Is this the curriculum? Is this the studies that you want Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools known for?”

That’s when the really mind-boggling and disgusting part came in. Trice, without seeming the least bit upset or defensive, calmly responded, “I don't understand what the challenge is. I see a pride flag, I see community, um, I see two couples who appear to be in a loving relationship. They're not breaking any laws, they're not hurting anyone. And that's certainly something a child may see in their community, so I'm not sure, you know, what the challenge is there.”

Yes, that’s right, Superintendent Trice described an image of smooching men in bondage gear — with children milling around them under a Pride flag — as a depiction of a loving relationship that any child might and should spy in his community.

Unsurprisingly, Jones was a little heated after Trice’s defense. “Doctor, children are subjected to this filth,” Jones exclaimed. “If this is a hill you want to die on, the Democrats want to die on, indoctrinating young children, I wish you the very best. You are on the wrong side of history.”

That’s a massive understatement. Trice is also on the wrong side of eternal judgment.
