Biden and Obama Praised Serial Assaulter Cesar Chavez

Labor activist César Chávez has long been considered a Democrat icon, from my home town of Tucson, Ariz., to Austin, Texas, to Washington, D.C. Streets bear his name, statues and busts of him stand in public places, schools have murals of him, and there is even a holiday in his honor. Bill Clinton posthumously gave Chávez the Presidential Medal of Freedom. But with the new bombshell exposé on Chávez's repeated sexual assaults of multiple victims, including a girl as young as 12, suddenly praise from the likes of Joe Biden and Barack Obama is seen for the insulting nonsense it always was.

A bombshell new report from the New York Times, of all outlets, exposes Chávez's disturbing rape record and even pedophilia based on victims' accusations. Ana Murguia and Debra Rojas both admit now that Chávez sexually abused them for years, starting when they were 13 and 12 years old, respectively. Murguia grew to such a pitch of despair over the repeated assaults that she tried to commit suicide when she was still a teen.

Chávez raped Rojas, and even Chávez's longtime ally and United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta says he assaulted her and impregnated her twice against her will. "Unfortunately, he used some of his great leadership to abuse women and children — it’s really awful," the now-elderly Huerta told the Times. The question is, why did the victims wait so many years to expose this evil man? Were they threatened? And how much did the people around Chávez, not to mention Democrat politicians who idolized him, know about his long pattern of abuse?

Speaking of which, besides Bill Clinton, two Democrat presidents have been particularly instrumental in promoting the myth of Chávez. In 2010, when establishing March 31 as César Chávez Day, then-President Barack Obama sentimentally and effusively wrote:

Applying the principles of nonviolence, [Chavez] empowered countless laborers, building a movement that grew into the UFW.  He led workers in marches, strikes, and boycotts, focusing our Nation's attention on their plight and using the power of picket lines to win union contracts.

"The love for justice that is in us is not only the best part of our being, but it is also the most true to our nature," Cesar Chavez once said.  Since our Nation's earliest days of independence, we have struggled to perfect the ideals of equal justice and opportunity enshrined in our founding documents.  As Cesar suggests, justice may be true to our nature, but as history teaches us, it will not prevail unless we defend its cause.

Obama added Chávez's chant "Sí, se puede," or "Yes, we can."

And speaking of "Sí, se puede," or, as Jill Biden would say, "Si, se podwe," Obama's vice president was even more exaggerative about Chávez when the time came. In a 2024 proclamation, President Joe Biden — or whoever was writing his script that day — was nauseatingly flowery in his praise for Chávez. In a proclamation for "César Chávez Day," Biden pompously declared, "Today, as we honor César Chávez’s life and legacy, we recommit to fulfilling the fundamental vision of La Causa: to give every worker the dignity and respect they deserve and ensure everyone has a fair shot at the American Dream."

And here's a paragraph that aged very badly indeed:

César Chávez defined extraordinary moral courage.  He was a migrant farm worker who spent long, strenuous hours working in the fields.  He and his fellow workers received unlivable wages and labored in unjust working conditions.  Even then, a man of unyielding faith and an immovable spirit, Chávez saw every reason to pursue what he knew was the truth of this country: The people who put food on America’s tables and sustain our Nation deserve their fair share.

Biden even referred to Dolores Huerta, the same woman who now says Chávez impregnated her through sexual assault. To top it off, Biden bragged about the bust of Chávez he put in the Oval Office and blatantly lied about how great his economy was for workers.

The Democrats own this scandal. They have spent years glorifying a serial rapist.
