A top United Nations official is carrying on the not-so-proud UN tradition of blaming Israel for defending itself against deadly violence from Islamic terrorists.
UN Relief Chief Tom Fletcher sounds like an out-and-out Hezbollah propagandist, deliberately lying about Israel in order to lay all the blame for violence between Lebanon and Israel on the latter, even though it is always Hezbollah that strikes first. If you believed Fletcher, you would think that Israel is deliberately dragging innocent Lebanese civilians into a war that they want nothing to do with, and in which they have no interest. The reality is that as usual, Iranian proxy Hezbollah began missile attacks on numerous civilian targets in northern Israel, absolutely peppering the area on behalf of its Tehran overlords as Israel struck Tehran.
The only reason Lebanon is a part of this war is because the terrorist group that dominates it jumped into the conflict full-throttle. And that is precisely the truth that Fletcher hopes the world will completely ignore.
On March 11, Fletcher — whose official title is Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator — outrageously equated the Iranian regime to the Israeli government and blamed them equally for the conflict. Apparently, Israel was just supposed to wait out another 40+ years of genocidal terrorism from Iran and Hezbollah without fighting back.

Fletcher condescendingly pontificated: “Mr. President, Excellencies, Lebanon is exhausted by other people's wars. It is not asking for help, but for oxygen. It's people can defy the history, the geography, even the politics. They can be stronger than the forces pulling them apart. But they can only do that. If Iran and Israel stop fighting their wars in Lebanon. Thank you, Mr. President.”

Fletcher‘s job is supposed to be to provide humanitarian assistance where it is most needed. Goodness knows, Israeli civilians, who have now endured several years of devastating Hezbollah strikes, which in some cases destroyed much of their villages (read more here), are much more in need of humanitarian assistance than Hezbollah terrorists.
But just as the United Nations employs numerous Hamas jihadis, including at least a dozen who participated in the Oct. 7 atrocities, so Fletcher’s sympathy is all for Hezbollah. He refuses to acknowledge the reality of why Israel is striking specific terrorist targets in Lebanon; he is even denying that Hezbollah launched Lebanon into the conflict.
Fletcher is failing in his duty to provide humanitarian support to those who need and deserve it most. Instead, he in functioning as a shameless propagandist for a genocidal Islamic terrorist group at a time when his lies can fuel real-world violence. Yet another reason for the USA to defund the UN altogether.
