Radical LGBTQ activist outlet The Advocate is going knives out for the Trump administration and is boiling mad that the U.S. military now spends more money on special meals for deployed troops than on castrations for mentally ill, gender-dysphoric service members.
Actually, the fact that the U.S. military spent a single penny of taxpayer funds on "transgender care," or mutilating surgeries and "treatments" to affirm the impossibility of sex transition, is actually disgusting. We can only be thankful that the Trump-Vance administration ended the heinous misuse of taxpayer money and told gender-dysphoric troops they could not identify as the opposite sex and remain in uniform. The Advocate's headline really does sound like satire since it's so stupid: “Pentagon spent more on lobster in one month than it did on trans health care all year.”
The Advocate went on an unhinged tirade:
The U.S. military spent millions of dollars under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s watch on lobster, steak, luxury furnishings, and a grand piano during a late-year spending surge, even as the Trump administration has argued in federal court that providing medical care to transgender service members is an undue financial burden on the armed forces.
I would have to know just what The Advocate considers "luxury furnishings" before commenting on that. The outlet griped about "high-end officer chairs" and footrests, but it's all dependent on definitions. Also, why would it necessarily be a problem that the military wants quality office chairs? I'm much more worried about taxpayer funding going to LGBTQ propaganda in schools, Gazan and Afghani terrorists, illegal aliens' lawyers, and double-dipping welfare recipients. Furthermore, government departments habitually spend more at the end of the year than at the beginning; this is not a military-specific issue.
Also, let us address a widespread misconception that many people who do not have military family members might have. The Trump administration did not suddenly decide to start buying lobster for troops. Regular or special “surf and turf night” events as a sort of culinary thank-you to troops have been ongoing at multiple bases for years. A Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) veteran deployed to the Middle East in 2007 told PJ Media, “Wednesday night meant one thing, surf and turf! Everyone knew they were going to the dining facility for steak and lobster as opposed to the normal chicken and hamburgers.” In fact, here's Michelle Obama serving up just such a "surf and turf" meal to troops:
Here’s Michelle Obama serving ribeyes to troops as part of a surf and turf meal that has been military tradition since WWII, but mainstream press has suddenly decided is a “gotcha” for some reason. https://t.co/g5EE6qOQYS pic.twitter.com/YGZpUPBfnx

The GWOT veteran recalled, “If you had time, you drove down to the main base in Qatar where they had all 31 flavors of Baskin-Robbins ice cream and full-sized candy bars. It was the one thing that you looked forward to all week long.” Far away from family and friends, often in serious danger, our troops look forward to such treats more than civilians who have never been deployed can understand. When The Advocate gripes about less than $130,000 spent on ice cream machines for troops in September, they sound ignorant and selfish. Our national debt is $38.87 trillion not because of $124,000 for troops' ice cream, or even because of $8.9 million on crab and lobster for troops last fall, but because of unconstitutional and unjustifiable misuses such as cutting off gender-dysphoric soldiers' body parts.
It is not unusual for the military to hold special meals or events for troops, including deployed troops, as a way of expressing gratitude to those who risk everything to protect our nation. Therefore, it is simply ridiculous to act as if the Trump administration is randomly racking up expenses that are unprecedented in military history. We might also point out that many of the Democrats whining about lobster for troops are fully in support of taxpayer-funded housing, food, and benefits for illegal aliens.
Until lefties agree to address the mass waste plaguing our welfare system, state funding for illegal aliens, Somali "learing centers," transgender grooming in schools, and many other unconstitutional and unnecessary programs, they can spare us the outrage about nice meals for troops.
