Multiple leftist billionaires, including Mark Zuckerberg and Steven Spielberg, are leaving California behind over its proposed wealth tax and collapsing economy. Except those same billionaires are the ones who voted into office the Democrats who have destroyed the state and pushed the wealth tax.
The reality is that Democrat elites never do actually want to live with the consequences of their own ideology. They always assume that the crime and poverty and social chaos that they encourage will only affect the lumpenproletariat whom they despise. If ever their own policies backfire on them, if ever they find themselves the targets of the talking points they spouted, they are as outraged as if they bore no responsibility. Do we not know that they are the sacred and untouchable oligarchs?!
It is rather like the French aristocrats who spewed the pernicious propaganda that launched the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror that turned its bloody fury on some of those very elites who had applauded its atheistic and disruptive ideology. Politics have consequences.
The uber-wealthy leftists who have religiously promoted Democrats for years want to live in a Republican state, or at least a less radical Democrat state, but will they alter their votes, donations, and endorsements? Almost certainly not. Zuckerberg's Meta platforms have been suppressing Democrat scandals and censoring almost all but Democrat narratives for years. His Zuckerbucks and censorship of the Biden laptop scandal were blatant election interference on behalf of Democrats. But now Fox Business reports: "Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is the latest California billionaire heading for Florida, snapping up a massive waterfront mansion in Miami’s exclusive 'Billionaire Bunker,' as Golden State lawmakers push a proposed 5% tax on the ultra-wealthy."

Speaking of Big Tech companies that persistently rig our elections in Democrats' favor, Google uses its search engine, news aggregator, and YouTube platform to promote leftist media, propaganda, and politicians. But Google co-founder Larry Page is also leaving California over the wealth tax. Sure, he co-founded one of the most insidious leftist companies in the entire world, but he only meant for other people to suffer from Google's machinations.
Moviemaker Steven Spielberg is pretending he's not leaving California because of the wealth tax — no, really, California Democrats are awesome, he just doesn't want to live under their rule anymore. He loves Gavin Newsom, but can't stand any longer to have him as his governor. It's purely coincidental that he's moving now, it has to do strictly with family affairs, and it isn't connected to the tax. Make it make sense.
And what's really galling to me is that these elites can afford to move away from the mess they created. They can inflict their destructive ideology on California, urge the citizens to vote for their own ruin, and then pick up and move to another state to continue enjoying their luxury. What despicable hypocrites they are.
