‘Abortion surveillance’
I have my own reservations about the current CDC Director nominee, Dr. Erica Schwartz.
The first red flag was that, during her confirmation hearing, she described mRNA technology as “safe and effective” — a nonsense Orwellian propaganda term that should have died with the Biden era.

Various Democrats, with the aid of disgraced anti-MAHA Chairman Bill Cassidy — why he’s allowed to continue running the committee even though voters threw him out of office come November is a separate question — demanded that Schwartz commit to defying theoretical orders that they don’t like coming from Trump or RFK Jr. (her bosses) in order to, effectively, run a mutiny at CDC.
She refused to affirm that she would respect orders from above in the chain of command, even telling Cassidy that she would “never betray the science” (whatever that means).
The last CDC Director, Susan Monarez, had to be fired a mere 29 days into the job — making her the shortest-serving CDC director in history — for her brazen insubordination, and it looks like this one isn’t likely to be any more respectful of the HHS Secretary.
But none of that is what bothered the corporate state media; on the contrary, they appreciate any potential administration official who’s at least ostensibly open to the possibility of acting as a subversive agent on behalf of their benefactors, the pharmaceutical industry.
What they didn’t appreciate, however, was Schwartz’s commitment to improve “abortion surveillance.”

Several Democrat-controlled states, where the majority of abortions occur, refuse to turn abortion figures over to the federal government, for obvious reasons.
Senator Josh Hawley pressed Schwartz on the need to better collect abortion data, which she agreed was important and promised to prioritize as CDC director.
I watched the hearing in full, having not seen any reporting on it beforehand. As soon as I heard that exchange with Sen. Hawley, I immediately knew it was going to elicit condemnation from progressive media, as abortion is their sacred rite to commune with their god (Satan).Feminists also constantly espouse the delusion that America is some kind of real-life Handmaid’s Tale, so this testimony plays right into that.

My prediction turned out to be accurate, as the feminist rag Jezebel pooped out a lackluster attack piece two days after the hearing.

Erica Schwartz, who served as deputy surgeon general during Trump’s first term, appeared before the Senate Health Committee for one of her confirmation hearings on Wednesday, during which she said she would “never betray the science,” “provide the American people with public health guidance that is clear, honest and evidence-based,” and prioritize “radical transparency and unwavering scientific integrity.” Contrary to any of that, she also dodged several questions about whether she’d ever openly disagree with Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr…
Most concerning was an exchange between Schwartz and anti-abortion Slenderman Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.)—when he asked if she would make the CDC’s voluntary abortion reporting system… less voluntary.
“The CDC collects data on abortions that are committed in the United States of America through a system called the Abortion Reporting System,” Hawley said. “This system is voluntary, and so a number of states, not coincidentally large blue states, do not turn over any data, so that it’s difficult to get a picture of just how many abortions and under what circumstances are committed in this country.”…
“Abortion surveillance is absolutely a critical component of what the CDC is currently doing,” Schwartz replied. “But I also want to also make sure that certain states are not conflating emergency services and hiding abortions in that emergency services case definition. We need to make sure we’re pulling out true abortions and making sure that we’re really having clear case definitions regarding abortions, so the data is actually accurate.” Which is… not great!
